whispering lies

I can not bear the whispered words

You pour into my ear like vinegar

On the open wounds of my desire

You promise what you can not give

It’s a lie we both know and accept

The prison of my recovery is empty.

Echoing against the cemented walls

And steel bars of my protected heart

Are the words of promised passions

Which never come to actual fruition

You abdicated the role of sensuality

For unbearable empty promises
