a hard life

An interesting life is supposed to be hard and filled with the trials that test us and shape us. It gives the flesh to body of our story, so that we can birth a history, if we are graced with the privilege of growing old.

  1. Graced. It is a privilege denied to many.

  2. it is odd, i find, that we consider life as something given to us in a manner we can find suitable or not. Life simply is. We are the summation of our experiences and our ability to understand and learn from them. Often enough, a life which is not made easy for us gives us more experience to learn from and less guidance to deal with it and it is this we call ‘an interesting life’ in the terms that you use. That is to say life with no safety net. The American dream, as it is called, is nothing more than a safety net society – the antithesis of what you appear to hold valuable. Humans, on their own volition, would deprive themselves of the very goodness of life you espouse. Isn’t that odd?

  3. I like your perspective on this… yes, we are graced with growing old. And we are graced even more if we have great memories and stories when we grow old.

i want people to smile when they think about what i’ve done…i want them to remember the woman who danced like no one was watching..in the middle of a crowded street…
